History of Sanyo Machine

  • Sep. Takeshi Horiba started Sanmei Co., LTD., which sold electrical instruments in Nagoya.

    1945

  • 1950

    Oct. Sanyo Manufacturing Co., LTD., established with its head office at Hira, Yamada-cho, Nishi-ku, Nagoya. Started manufacturing jigs, gauges and test instruments.

  • Jan. Company name changed to Sanyo Co., LTD.

    1957

  • May. Company won Prefectural Governor's Award following evaluation of several companies.

    1959

  • Nov. Awarded the Excellent Company Award by the Commissioner of the Small and Medium Enterprise Agency.

    1960

    Jun. Nishiharu Plant built in Nishiharu-cho, Nishikasugaigun(present Kitanagoya), Aichi-ken. This promoted production capacity of cylindrical grinders, special purpose machines, jigs and press dies.

  • Jan. Company renamed as Sanyo Machine Works, LTD.

    Jul. Business Department became independent and named Sanyo Machine Trading Company.

  • 1963

    Mar. Concluded a technical aid agreement concerning Press Line Automation Devices with the Press Automation Systems Corp. (U.S.A.)

  • Jan. Toyota Plant built in Midorigaoka, Toyota City, Aichi-pref.

    1965

  • 1968

    Nov. Technical aid contract made with Efficient Engineering Co.(U.S.A.) for automatic welding device.

  • 1969

    Dec. Concluded a technical aid agreement concerning Automatic Assembly Devices with the Cargill Detroit Corp. (U.S.A.)

  • Apr. Prince and Princess Takamatsu visited the company to observe the Gate Line manufactured by Sanyo Machine Works LTD. and delivered to Toyota Motors, Corporation Tsutsumi Plant. They also visited our Nagoya and Nishiharu plants.

    1971

  • Jun. Head Office moved to Nishiharu-cho, Nishikasugaigun, Aichi-pref.

    1972

  • Apr. Established SANYO GIKEN CO., LTD.

    1973

  • Mar. SANYO SHOKUSAN established in Nishi-ku, Nagoya.
    TAIYO KIKO CO., LTD. established in Nishi-ku, Nagoya.

    1975

    Mar. SANYO SHOKUSAN started production and sales of Seaweed Extract.
    TAIYO KIKO CO., LTD. started production and sales of jigs, gauges and welding machines.

  • 1976

    Sep. Automatic bolt fastening device(DC Nutrunner) developed for actual use.

  • 1979

    Oct. Concluded a technical aid agreement concerning Adaptable Control-resistance Welding Devices with the Partron Corp. (U.S.A.)

  • 1980

    Dec. Contract made with Krause(West Germany) for sales and technical aid of Sanyo's automatic bolt fastening device.

  • Jul. Sanyo's Canada plant built in Elmira, Ontario,Canada.

    1982

  • Dec. Detroit office opened in Detroit, Michigan, U.S.A.

    1983

    Jul. Installed a Tailgate and Floor Welding Line for a Swedish automobile manufacturer.

  • 1984

    Dec. Technical aid contract made with BTM Co.(U.S.A.) for Sanyo's Sheet metal joining Systems.

  • Feb. Sanyo Machine America Corporation established in Detroit, Michigan, U.S.A.

    1986

    Sep. Exhibited Jig Center at the '86 IMTS(Chicago Trade Show). Started selling in the U.S.A

    Nov. Exhibited Jig Center at the 13th JIMTOF(Osaka Trade Show). Started selling in Japan.

  • 1988

    Aug. Installed an Engine Assembly Line at the U.S. plant of a Japanese automobile manufacturer.

  • 1989

    Jul. Installed a Welding Line for a U.S. automobile manufacturer.

  • 1991

    Nov. Started development and sales of CO2 Laser Processing Systems.

  • Dec. Smart Automation Systems, Incorporated established in Detroit, Michigan, U.S.A.

    1992

  • Jun. Takeshi Horiba became Chairman of the Board. Masatake Horiba became President and CEO.

    1993

    Apr. Started development and sales of 3D Coordinate measuring devices.
    Installed an Engine Assembly Line for a Japanese automobile manufacturer.

  • 1994

    Jan. Developed an automatic alignment device for laser cutting machines.

  • Sep. The 50th Anniversary of the company.

    1995

    Oct. Started selling a small, high speed type Nutrunner SVNR.

  • 1996

    Feb. Installed an Engine Assembly Line at the U.S. plant of a Japanese automobile manufacturer.

    Jul. Installed an Engine Assembly Line for a Korean automobile manufacturer.

  • Apr. Exhibited at the China International Machine Tool Show.

    1997

  • 1999

    Feb. Sanyo Machine America Corp. certified to ISO 9001 and QS-9000 certification for its automatic operation facilities.

    Jun. Released high-speed precision wide-use processing machine for YAG laser.

    Oct. Certified to ISO 9001 certification for the Nutrunner Department.

  • 2000

    Aug. Released FA controller CETOP for open network.

  • 2001

    Sep. Certified to CSA standard certification(USA,CANADA) of industrial control equipment for the CETOP products.

    Oct. Introduced 3D simulation technology and 3D design for automatic assembly and welding line systems.

  • 2002

    May. Innovated Epochal engine line system that integrated manufacturing processes from maching, assembling, production control, and extended to inspection and shipment.

    Nov. Released a small-high function type Nutrunner SDNR.

  • 2003

    Feb. Installed an Engine Assembly Line at the U.S. plant of a Japanese automobile manufacturer.

    Mar. Installed an Engine Assembly Line for an Australian automobile manufacturer.

  • Jul. SDI3Sanyo machine Digital Innovation, Initiative, Integration.

    2004

    Feb. Installed an Engine Assembly Line at the U.S. plant of a Japanese automobile manufacturer.

  • Sep. The 60th Anniversary of the company

    2005

    Aug. Installed an Engine Assembly Line at the Spanish plant of a Japanese automobile manufacturer.

  • 2007

    Jun. Released CETOP F-series.

  • Jan. Sanyo Machine Works, LTD. merged with Sanyo Food Products Co., LTD. and CHOJUTEI.

    2008

    May. Released small and lightweight Handheld Nutrunner SHDN.

    Dec. Released a Digital Control Press System SMDP.

  • 2010

    Mar. Certified the patent of new Constant Time Tightening Method for the Nutrunner.

  • Jul. Masatake Horiba became Chairman of the Board. Keita Horiba became President and CEO.

    Dec. Installed an Engine Assembly Line at the U.S. plant of a Japanese automobile manufacturer.

  • Feb. Got certificated as Aichi Quality Company 2014.

    Mar. Established SIAM SANYO MACHINE WORKS LTD. In Thailand.

    Jun. Awarded 2015 Performance Excellence Award by Honda North America.
    Awarded 2015 Supplier of the Year Award by Honda North America.

    Sep. The 70th Anniversary of the company.
